Nymphs are a kind of lesser immortal, nearly always females of incredible beauty,  found among the various pantheons.  Exactly where Nymphs come from is a bit of a question.  Some are the children of gods who simply never advanced to become scions, others are the daughters and granddaughters of lesser immortals, some were created, and some are mortals who managed to increase their legend score.  Too varying degrees nymphs are usually somewhat hostile or abusive to mortals but quite submissive and willing to aid the more powerful scions and gods.  Nymphs often have poor relations with giants, sprites, and other predominantly male creature types who often attempt to procreate with them.

Primarily native to the mortal world ancient nymphs often fled civilization to live in the woods, lakes, or rivers.  Modern Nymphs prefer the comfortable isolation of civilization.  Many work as models, actresses, waitresses, or such.  Any occupation that being pretty is more important than having actual skill. 

Nymph Rules

  1. Nymphs always have an epic appearance equal to their legend.
  2. Nymphs use the virtue tree of their associated pantheon…usually.
  3. Nymphs happily become Retainers to deities of any standing or pantheon, and are almost as happy to join a Retinue.  Nymphs have no restriction for joining a retinue or becoming a Retainer, though nymphs will not stay in the retinue of a god who also accepts sprites or giants.  
  4. Nymphs rarely rise above legend 4 and the few who do are almost always retainers to true gods.  Occasionally independent or wild nymphs will rise as high as legend six or seven, though such creatures are incredibly rare.

The iconic nymph of Augustine Myth.  Incredibly precise the Greeks, Romans, and English have different words identifying Nymphs by where they choose to live and what powers they have.  These nymphs are allies to the Augustine and usually friendly to mortals…though they do tend to be a bit cowardly and forgetful.  Like all the Augustine Nymphs take great delight in revenge and go to great lengths to punish those who wrong them.

Usually lesser deities in the Augustine, goddesses of groves, rivers, lakes, meadows and other minor features or attendants to more powerful deities.. 

Language:  Nymphs usually speak the Romance languages- French, Latin, Italian, or Romanian.  A few from America or the old commonwealth speak West German- Usually English.  Very few young nymphs speak Greek.  Some speak the Iberian languages, though they almost always originate in Iberia instead of South American or African regions.

The alfar are lesser fertility deities of the Norse pantheon. Unlike many other breeds of lesser immortals, the alfar largely developed positive relationships with the Gods of Asgard. The most powerful of the alfar, the Vanir, even ascended to join the ruling Aesir after a protracted cold war between the two groups. Those alfar who were not among the Vanir remained among the Germanic peoples, eventually spreading with them across Europe. After the Gods of Asgard withdrew from mortal affairs, the alfar largely did the same, eschewing outright worship for the ability to manipulate events from behind the scenes.

The word elf is a linguistic corruption of the Scandinavian “alfar,” which none of these daughters of the Vanir are thrilled about.  

Language:  The Nordic gods are quite diverse linguistically.  Alfar can speak Baltic, Uralic or the traditional Scandinavian though most modern Alfar are children of the Germanic Diaspora to England and North America and tend to speak Germanic.

  3. Abilities: Alfar gain Medicine 3 and academics 1.  Alfar lose all subterfuge dots.

The daughters of winter who walk the snowbanks and mountain peaks of Japan and the polynesian islands.  They desperately seek men to warm their beds…at the expense of the mans life.  Most Yuki-onna are loyal in some fashion to the Kami, even if scions often attack them for their crimes.    

Language:  Modern Yuki-onna usually speak Germanic or Japonic as their native,  though a surprising number speak Austronesian.

Sirens are the cousins of the Succubi and were once unified beneath the gods of Mesopatamia.  They are often confused by christians as Mermaids or Angels.  Since the Annuna have mostly disolved sirens have become quite fickle in their loyalties and they can be found serving the Augustine, Anunna, Bogovoi, and Netjer.  Sirens are quite bestial and often have wings, horns, or fishtails.

Jurogumo (spider-women)

Calamaties through and through Jurogumo are among the most brutal of all common nymphs.  They seduce men and lure them back to their lairs too eat them.  Even the war against the Augustine hasn’t endeared these wretched women to their Kami allies.  Jurogumo have a much lower social set than their peers and use the following character sheet.
